Flexible Maritime VSAT Airtime
The 56m research vessel the R/V Wecoma normally operates off the USA's West coast. It has been tasked with a project and must operate at a position 1000nm South of Hawaii, close to the equator for a 6 week period. It will be necessary to transfer a large amount of oceanographic data from the vessel back to base at the Oregon State University.
The Solution
A flexible short-term Asia Pacific satellite airtime plan is provided for the scientific cruise to the Equator. The plan permits data rates of up to 1Mbps to shore allowing the rapid and reliable transfer of data off the ship. Almost unique in the maritime VSAT industry, with a minimum contract duration of only 1 month, bandwidth can be resourced as required to support the short term requirements of any type of vessel.
